STARRY
LOVE is the follow up to Nicole Zoltack's bestselling Holiday novella, MASKED
LOVE.
Lady
Elizabeth is more than happy for her brother Lionel, who found love with the
beautiful Lady Theodosia. Now, with the Season rapidly approaching, it's her
turn. But when her father is stricken deathly ill, love of any sort except
familial is all Elizabeth can think of.
Her
mother hails for doctors, surgeons, even apothecaries in a desperate attempt to
keep her father alive. As upkeep of the house falls to Elizabeth, she spend
long hours beside her father, watching as he betters one day and fares worse on
others.
But
there is one thing that gives her hope. One person. Long walks with Scottish
stable hand Callum on starry nights save Elizabeth's sanity.
When the
inevitable happens, Lady Elizabeth is forced to go to London. The gentlemen
there, however, hold no candle to the kind and caring Callum.
Shortly
before her father's death, Callum had returned to his homeland to try and find
a cure for her father. As time passes with no word or no letters, Elizabeth
must choose whether the love that blossomed between them is worth denying the
man and the future her mother wishes for her.
Can she
hold on a little longer, or will she choose to endure starry nights with
another?

“I be sorry I didna find ye to see if ye wanted to ride Silver Star today. I had a feeling ye would not, but that wasna my place.” He jumped to his feet and looked ready to gallop away.
“I be sorry I didna find ye to see if ye wanted to ride Silver Star today. I had a feeling ye would not, but that wasna my place.” He jumped to his feet and looked ready to gallop away.
She stood
in such a fashion as to hinder his escape. “I did want to ride Silver Star
today,” she whispered.
Callum
lowered his head. “I knew I made a mistake. I shoulda—”
“But I was
afraid I’d keep on riding and never return,” she finished in a rush, and held
her breath. She had felt awful for feeling that way, but to admit it weighed
even more heavily upon her shoulders.
“When Mum
died, I wanted to grow wings and fly away to the moon. Now, that be not exactly
possible, so I never managed to, but that yer still here, even though your
means of leaving is so much easier than mine be … Yer a strong lady, Lady
Elizabeth.”
“I don’t
feel strong,” she whispered, gazing up at him. Two tears fell from her right
eye.
Suddenly,
Callum was too close in front of her, his hand an inch from her face. She
closed her eyes, waiting for his touch.
But it
never came.
She opened
her eyes to see he was gone, halfway to the stables already.
Elizabeth
swallowed hard. Did he not care for her as much as she did him?
Or perhaps he is afraid of losing
someone again and refuses to allow anyone to become close.
