#AuthorInterview - "Don't Drop the Baby" by Linda O'Connor

Welcome to my blog, Linda. Thanks for stopping by!

Please introduce yourself.
Hey Everyone! I’m Linda O’Connor, and I’m super excited to be stopping by. I’m the author of medical romantic comedies in The Perfectly Series, In the Game Hockey Romance series, and my brand new release, Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series. I balance writing with my work as a physician in an Urgent Care Clinic and weave the best parts of medicine into romance. All of my books are stand-alone stories filled with love and laughter – so indulge yourself, relax, and escape into fun. It’s what the doctor ordered. :D

What inspires you as an author?
Everything! News stories, headlines, snippets of conversations I hear, lyrics of songs, watching people and putting a story behind their body language or expression – they all inspire my imagination. I’m a physician, and I started writing because I wanted to find a fun way to disseminate medical information. My characters are often doctors and the patients they see are inspired by something I want to teach.

What is your favorite quote?
It ain’t no use putting up your umbrella till it rains. Alice Caldwell Rice
So simple but excellent advice for all those worry-worts – don’t be worrying about something that may not happen!

What type of romance do you love most, and why?
I love romantic comedies because I love being in a fun headspace when I’m writing. I usually read for relaxation and feel better when the book is upbeat. I think laughter is essential to great health!

Why did you write this book?
I thought it would be fun to write a romantic comedy series about a retired doctor who “upgrades” her M.D. from Medical Doctor to Matchmaking Doctor. Dr. Brogan Corkie brings couples together and helps give them a nudge in the right romantic direction. A second romance overarching through all the books is Brogan’s romance. She practices what she preaches.

What is your favorite genre to read?
I love reading romantic comedies and romance in general, and when I’m writing, I read cozy mysteries.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
My favourite fictional character is Andy Carpenter, a reluctant lawyer who helps solve mysteries in the Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt. He’s brilliant and funny (as is the author!).

What are you working on at the moment?
I’m editing the third book and writing the fourth book of the Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series. The fourth book will be a Christmas romantic comedy!

What books will we see from you in coming months?
I’ll be releasing Don’t Forget the Dog, Book 2, and Don’t Unravel the Past, Book 3 of the Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series in May 2020 and August 2020 respectively. And I’ll release Book 4 in November. Can’t wait!

Don’t Drop the Baby
(Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor Book 1)
Genre Medical Romantic Comedy
PG

Blurb

Dr. Brogan Corkie is happily semi-retired from medicine and now has time for other hobbies. Her passion for food is only second to her skill at matchmaking!

Ross Skye, owner of BabyCare, a high-end line of baby merchandise, is injured in an accident, and Brogan uses her cooking, medical – and matchmaking – skills to help him out. Dr. Lauren Ross is taking care of her nephew for two weeks, and Brogan agrees to babysit while Lauren is at work.

Two years ago, Ross and Lauren dated. At that time, Lauren wanted kids, but Ross wasn’t keen. Now the tables have turned, and Ross is trying to convince Lauren that they’d make an awesome parenting team. Brogan suggests they test drive parenthood by looking after a simulated baby for a week – a computerized version that eats, sleeps, wets, and cries. Ross and Lauren experience the “joy” of having a newborn firsthand, and the bar is set pretty low. Their first goal is: don’t drop the baby. The second goal is to find out if their love for each other will survive the test of…parenting.

Bio

Award-winning author Linda O’Connor started writing romantic comedies when she needed a creative outlet other than subtly rearranging the displays at a local home décor store. Her books have enjoyed bestseller status. When not writing, she’s a physician at an Urgent Care Clinic. She shares her medical knowledge in fast-paced, well-written, sexy romances – with an unexpected twist. Her favourite prescription to write? Laugh every day. Love every minute.
