Not a question, she knew instinctively. That tone meant business
and she placed her hand in his as though pushed by an invisible force. He led
her to the polished dance floor, wove between other couples and didn’t stop
until he reached the middle. Max drew her close and wrapped his arms around
her. He pressed his palms against the small of her back and her skin felt
scorched beneath her thin dress. Instinct told her to run, that what she felt
was too good and that it wasn’t real, but she let his arms bind her to him as
they swayed to the music.
