Welcome to Books to Go Now Hot Summer Nights Blog Hop!!!
This is my first ever hop and I hope everyone has fun.
What’s your favorite thing about summer? For me, it’s the little things. Even though summer is my least favorite season (it’s just so HOT and muggy!), little things like awesome drinks, colorful flowers, sunbathing and cute, airy dresses make living through May to August in the South worth it.
I love fruity drinks!!! Pina Coladas,
Margaritas and strawberry Daiquiris are to die for! And let’s not forget about
my favorite non-fruity drink: Long Island Iced Teas! YUM!
The exotic shapes of the glasses
and little umbrellas create the illusion of my dream vacation to the Caribbean.
The slice of fruit on the rim of the glass gives the entire delicious ensemble
an extra splash of girly.
Every time I make a homemade
Margarita and set outside on my deck to enjoy the warm breeze, I imagine that I'm lounging by a pool at dusk with a sexy, bronzed lifeguard not far away. Of
course, my wonderful husband, Greg, doesn’t find that particular daydream too
amusing. ;)
Most flowers and plants are so
bright and colorful with fragrant scents and soft or prickly petals. Purple and
pink dianthus wins out as my all-time favorite flower, although elegant lilies
and wild freesias often catch my eye.
I wish I could call myself a tanned
little beach bunny. Unfortunately, I live near the mountains and not the beach.
So instead of tanning on a sandy bed with the ocean crashing a few yards away, I
lay naked in my backyard (yep, that got your attention!) and sunbathe while
reading a book or listening to music. Luckily, the high privacy fence my
husband and father-in-law built last year really came in handy!
Tanning is a pastime I love but
rarely indulge in. Greg always complains and worries about skin cancer, and he
has a point. Tanning can be dangerous without the right precautions. So, when I
do tan, I always drink lots of water and use SPF 30 lotion or good tanning oil,
which I reapply every four hours. Better safe than sorry.
As a girly girl, I tend to ramble
about clothes, especially flirty dresses and strappy heels. (Or sexy sung
sweaters and knee-length boots—but that’s another post!) Like this dress I wore
to a friend’s wedding just a few days ago, it’s bright, colorful and enticing (unlike
the boring backdrop). I love the bold floral design, heart-shaped bodice with
pleats and wide straps that crisscross around the back. I’m also wearing pink, peek-a-boo
heels (not pictured—eek!) and silver accessories.
Summer weather in North Carolina
is soooo hot. But, hey, it could be worse. Wearing fun, billowy dresses like
this makes up for the heat and keeps me from complaining too much.
All in all, this season isn't so bad. The pros certainly outweigh the cons in my opinion.
Please share your thoughts. Have a wonderful season and stay safe! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
